Must - Reading (RWI or guided reading)
RWI – watch the relevant speed sounds lesson: Set 1: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KqtjeOwy75M&feature=youtu.be
Set 2: igh - https://youtu.be/1CUZmBaDK4s
Set 2/3 – If you have been learning set 2 and have moved onto set 3 please watch this video: Ue - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kYa3gEhhJ98 Set 3 – if you have been learning set 3, we are going to go through the sounds again to help build our fluency:
Ur - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NbQz3TwcWAw
Then read the RWI book online https://home.oxfordowl.co.uk/reading/reading-schemes-oxford-levels/read-write-inc-phonics-guide/
Go onto ‘ebooks’ then you will need to register (this is free of charge) and then you will be able to access all the ebooks and choose the correct banded level for your child. Please note that the RWI phonics scheme is based on lots of repetition. Therefore, we usually read the same book about 3 or 4 times before moving onto a new book. For some children they may need to read it more than this to ensure they are completely fluent in reading the book (no sounding out). A general guide is: 1st read – decoding all the words – sound out as much as you need to. 2nd read – read for fluency (try to read with more fluency and expression). 3rd read – read with fluency, expression and comprehension. Try answering the comprehension questions at the back.
This website also provides lots of other information for parents about phonics. It has other resources on here too should you wish to explore!
Guided reading Complete the guided reading task at the bottom of the webpage. If the reading is taking you longer than the time allocated, then feel free to share the reading with an adult.

Must - Maths Year 2 To understand how to find fractions of a set of objects
1st task – watch the tutorial. You need to bring pencil and paper with you.
2nd task – choose your activity
Green – If you would like extra support then watch this tutorial. We will do some questions together before you go off and complete the first orange task on your own.
Orange- Use sharing to help you find fractions of a set of objects. Answer the ‘year 2 maths orange challenge’ and ‘year 2 maths orange challenge 2’. Rather than circling the fractions please write the fraction sentence e.g. ½ of 12 cats = 6 cats
Red- watch this tutorial which shows how to find ¾ of a set of objects the solve the ‘year 2 red challenge’ questions. Please note that the first questions in this section are the same as some of the questions in the orange section.
3rd task - Look back at the success criteria. Do you think you met all of the success criteria? Is there anything that you need to work on? What do you confident with?
Year 1 Learning objective: To be able to solve multiplication word problems
Today we are going to be working towards the outcome of our experience – planning a welcome back to school party.
Task 1: Watch the tutorial to find out more about the problems you will need to solve to help me plan what we might need for a party before I can ask Miss Fermor and Miss McCann if we can have one.
After watching the video choose the level of challenge you would like to do. Green is the easiest level and is for those who need extra support. Orange is for those who feel confident to complete the questions without the support video. Red is for those who would like to challenge themselves.
Task 2: If we wanted to plan a welcome back to school party, we would need to find out how many of each item we would need to buy. I need you to help me to work out how much we would need to buy so I can ask Miss Fermor and Miss McCann if we are allowed to have a welcome back to school party. Green: Green group we will be working together to use the grouping method to solve the multiplication problems. I will help you with the first few and then you can help me be solving the rest.
Resource: 1.3.21 Year 1 Maths Outcome Questions Orange: Orange group you will be choosing your favourite method of multiplication to help me find out how many of each item I might need to buy. Methods you might want to use: Resource: 1.3.21 Year 1 Maths Outcome Questions Red - challenge: Red group, when I went to the shops, I found out that some of the items could be bought in different size packets. I don’t know which ones would be best to buy so I need you to solve the problems for each item and use your knowledge of multiplication to tell me which packet would give me more of each item. Watch the tutorial to find out more about how you can help me.
Resource: 1.3.21 Year 1 Red Maths Questions
Task 3: At the end of the lesson think about whether you have met today’s success criteria. You could write at the bottom of your work how you got on and how you think you could make your work even better.

Must – English Learning objective: To show my knowledge of poetry
Today we will be writing our poems using the notes we planned Friday to help us.
Task 1: Watch the tutorial to find out more about writing your poem and using you plan to help you.
After watching the video choose the level of challenge you would like to do. Green is the easiest level and is for those who need extra support. Orange is for those who feel confident to complete the questions without the support video. Red is for those who would like to challenge themselves.
Task 2: You will now be writing up your poems, you can either hand write them or type them if you would like to. Green: Green group I have provided you with the same sentence stems and word banks you used on Friday to help you plan. Today I will go through writing a few of the lines together. Watch the tutorial where we will be writing the first few lines together and choosing a line to repeat in each stanza, then you will finish your poems independently so we all have a slightly different poem.
Resources: Sentence Stems PDF Support Word Bank PDF
Orange: Orange group you will be using your planning of your poems on Friday to help you write your poem today. Make sure you include the key features:
I would like you to write at least 10 lines for your poem. Red - challenge: If you have chosen to do the red challenge you will be completing the same work as the orange level. If you chose the red challenge Friday you should have considered in your plan how you will be using adjectives and ly adverbs in your poem. If you have only chosen the red challenge today or need more ideas to help you find more interesting adjectives you can use the link below to access an online thesaurus.
For LY adverbs take a look at this word bank
Task 3: think about whether you have met today’s success criteria. You could write at the bottom of your work how you got on and how you think you could make your work even better.
Task 4: Listen to Miss Keenor’s daily poem This is only a short video to allow you to hear different poems and has a panda theme today
