Guided reading. This week we are looking at letter writing and so our guided reading will be working on this. Rather than having a new text every day like last week there will be one text and you will be answering questions about it each day. There is an extension for those who would like to do a bit extra and the answers are at the bottom. Each day the questions will be working on a different area of reading (skill). |

LO: to recall the features of a letter SC1: I can identify the standard features of a letter SC2: I can find similarities in letters SC3: I can spot differences in letters and explain why they are different
This week’s challenge is about random acts of kindness and we are going to try and bring a little bit of joy into someone else’s life during this time by communicating with them. How do we communicate with each other? Take 2 minutes and think of as many different ways as possible. (talk, phone, email, letters, etc.)
We are going to be focusing on letter writing this week but even this could take several forms. Have a think about the different form of letter writing we could use. (e.g. email, post card, card, letter) What is the purpose of writing letters? Why do we write letters? All letters have a similar structure which means how a text is organised. Can you create a spider diagram on ‘what all letters include’? E.g. address, date, who it is to, who it is from.
Have a look at the example letters I have given you and see if you can create a list of features in 2 columns. Put features that are similar between all the letters on one side and features that are different on the other. This is going to help us when we come to organising our own letter. |
