Reading
RWI – watch the set 3 speed sounds lesson: Set 1 - https://youtu.be/af63Z4UFvMo Set 2 – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=amBCBQGZj8w Set 3 – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8abfsm8IjQI
Then read the RWI book online https://home.oxfordowl.co.uk/reading/reading-schemes-oxford-levels/read-write-inc-phonics-guide/
Go onto ‘ebooks’ then you will need to register (this is free of charge) and then you will be able to access all the ebooks and choose the correct banded level for your child. Please note that the RWI phonics scheme is based on lots of repetition. Therefore, we usually read the same book about 3 or 4 times before moving onto a new book. For some children they may need to read it more than this to ensure they are completely fluent in reading the book (no sounding out). A general guide is: 1st read – decoding all the words – sound out as much as you need to. 2nd read – read for fluency (try to read with more fluency and expression). 3rd read – read with fluency, expression and comprehension. Try answering the comprehension questions at the back.
This website also provides lots of other information for parents about phonics. It has other resources on here too should you wish to explore!
Guided reading Complete the guided reading task at the bottom of the webpage. If the reading is taking you longer than the time allocated, then feel free to share the reading with an adult.

Maths Year 2 maths Learning objective and success criteria: To use subtraction to find difference
I can subtract from the starting number to find the missing number
Watch my tutorial for how to find the difference using the bar method and subtraction. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yjZi6GmYGlw
You will then need to look back at yesterday’s work to find the numbers that you have chosen for each colour. Put those numbers into the bar diagram alongside a number which is larger than the number you started with. Then use subtraction to work out the missing number. This will then give you your calculation that you need to put in each part of the box. As you need to create a subtraction calculation for every part of your colour by numbers, you will have tomorrow’s lesson to complete this too.
Year 1 Lesson Lesson objective and success criteria: To know how to use subtraction to find the difference
Watch the video tutorial on using subtraction to find the difference. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nlVaDeKeYN0
After the tutorial answer the questions at the bottom of the page.
If you finish these questions try the year 1 challenge questions. (Answer as many as you can, don’t worry if you don’t do them all).
At the end of the lesson look back at the success criteria. Write underneath your work which success criteria you met. If you can write down what you think your target/ next step should be based on the success criteria then that would be great!

English Learning objective and success criteria: To understand how to use exclamation sentences
Follow the tutorial which explains what exclamation sentences are. Halfway through you will need to stop the video to write some examples of exclamation sentences. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RJS4f_52tYI
After completing the tutorial complete the following activity: Next, you need to say whether each sentence below is a statement or if it is an exclamation sentence.
Finally, apply your understanding by creating an exclamation sentence to go with your favourite synopsis from earlier in the week/last week. Here is my example:
Have you ever wondered what it might be like to have a dinosaur as a pet? What fun you would have! In this story an enormous egg appears at a little boy’s house. In the egg there is a dinosaur. The boy learns to look after his dinosaur. If you like dinosaurs, then you will love this book! Read this funny story now!
Have you met today’s success criteria? How confident do you feel with exclamation sentences? Let me know by writing a comment.

Once you have watched the tutorial film yourself playing your instrument to music of your choice, this only needs to be a short clip!
