LO: to understand that characters must be clearly linked to the story

SC1: I can use Walliams’ characters to inspire my own character

SC2: I can suggest character traits for a new David Walliams-style character

SC3: I can describe a character in detail and explain how he or she fits into a story

Watch my tutorial about characters within stories. Then have a go at the activities.

ACTIVITY:

Create a new character for a David Walliams book. Decide if it will be for an additional character in a Walliams book they know, for an additional character in Mr Stink, or for a character in a book yet to be written!

Create their profile using the Character Profile Outline, making notes around each subheading. Think carefully about whom this character is friends with; what they do; what their personality is like; what they look like. They should also think about what their role might be in the story. Write a couple of sentences about how they might fit into their story.
