Maths

LO: to know how to describe 2D shapes using their properties

SC1: I can name 2-D shapes

SC2: I can describe the properties of 2D shapes using mathematical vocabulary

SC3: I can sort shapes in different ways according to their properties

ACTIVITY:

Cut out the sheet of ‘Shapes to sort’; spread them out on the table. How could we sort these into two hoops?  Are there any shapes left over? They are part of the picture, but sit outside the hoops. Do any shapes fit in more than one group? Look, we can overlap the hoops, creating an intersection, so we can show one shape having both properties.

Find as many different ways of sorting them as possible, labelling your groups using post-its or similar.

Challenge! Draw at least one other shape to place in each set of your Venn diagram.

10:30-11:00

Break time/snack time

Exercise – e.g. mindfulness yoga, fresh air in the garden, run up and down the stairs seeing if you can get faster every time!

Yu need to keep your body active so that your brain can keep active too.

11am ZOOM WITH MRS SMURTHWAITE

11:00 – 12.00

English

LO: to understand how dialogue changes depending on the situation

SC1: I can create a scene that will create humour

SC1: I can decide what characters would say in that situation

SC3: I can create a script for the scene

Watch the tutorial to find out what we are doing today.

Activity 1: Think of as many funny places that Mr Stink and Chloe could visit that would be funny or that would be unsuitable for Mr Stink e.g. a fancy restaurant

Activity 2: Choose one of the places from your list and identify which characters would be there. Will they be characters that we already know or new ones? Will they be random members of the public?

Activity 3: Make very brief notes of the main events of what could happen in the scene. Think carefully about other characters and their personalities. How would they talk to Chloe and Mr Stink? How do Mr Stink and Chloe react?

Once you have written notes write the dialogue like a script. You could use different colours for each character.

*You will be using these notes to write a scene including speech tomorrow.

THIS WEEK’S ART OVERVIEW:

This week we will be further exploring some of the types of art where geometry is used.

Last week, on Monday, you did some general research into the different types… this week, we are going to take a different type each day and create a mood/ideas board, then have a go at trying to replicate that style of art with whatever tools and materials you have at home. This will all build towards you deciding which type of geometric art you will create next week for your final outcome.

Please don’t worry if you don’t have lots of art materials; junk, household items (that you are allowed to use!) and any art resources you may already have, will be just fine…be flexible and resourceful! Each day, we will provide an example of how your mood/ ideas board might look, and any helpful links or websites.

SCULPTURE

Task 1: On an A4 piece of paper/ document on your computer (your choice!) create a mood/ ideas board with images and information about geometric sculpture. You could include some of your favourite designs, the names of any famous sculptors, details about what materials are used, and anything else you discover that you’d like to add! See my attached example ‘Sculpture Mood/ Ideas Board’.

Fun idea – soap sculpture

Funky junk sculpture

Task 2: Use your research to create your own geometric sculpture. You could use paper, junk, playdough, clay, salt-dough, household objects (take a photo!) or anything you can think of! Remember your sculpture could be tiny, as long as it includes some geometry, and this isn’t your final project so you don’t need to spend ages (unless you want to!) – it’s just a chance to try it out.
