Answer the following questions on the video clip above:

  5. Bravery is the most important quality of a polar explorer. Do you agree? Give evidence from the video to support your arguments.

Task:

Sir Ranulph Fiennes is going on another record-breaking polar expedition to Antarctica. Write a letter to him, explain why you should be a member of his polar challenge team. Remember to:

  • Use persuasive writing techniques throughout your letter.
  • Give evidence to show why you are the best person for his team.
  • Apply the qualities you heard in the video clip ‘Sir Ranulph Fiennes 10 lessons
  • from the world’s greatest living explorer’ to your letter.
  • Use the checklist to help you in the attachments below-'checklist A persuasive letter to Sir Ranulph Fiennes.'
  • Evaluate your writing against the success criteria.

Extension task: To write a reply from Sir Ranulph Fiennes, addressing the points you made in your persuasive letter and deciding if you have been accepted on his next expedition.

Open the maze game that you created in yesterday’s session. If you cannot find it, quickly recreate this if you can.

Now watch my tutorial to understand how to extra effects. You can watch the tutorial the whole way through or pause when suggested and work alongside the video.

 

 

I have added the coding used for the game as a resource to download if you need some extra help.

Tasks

1. Add a sound for when the sprite touches an obstacle, moves to the next level and reaches the exit

2. Programme the sprite to return to the start of the game if it touches the obstacle.

 

Extension: Research how to add a new effect. Think about something you would like to do to make your game even better and add this in. You can work out how to do this yourself through experimenting with the different code or you can watch YouTube tutorials for how to do this.
