Four Elms Primary School

Friday 3rd July 2020

Time

Learning

9-9:30

Joe Wicks is no longer running on a Friday but you can go back and do one of your favourites from his other workouts. Or alternatively you could have a look at other exercise options e.g. cosmic Yoga, Just Dance, Zumba, Les Mills for kids etc.

Get yourself moving and exercising as it will set you up for a great day of learning!!

9:30 – 9:50

If you are a Lexia person you must complete Lexia during this time instead of guided reading.

Today your guided reading questions are based on SPaG but using the text for reference. You will be looking at areas such as word classes, synonyms, and cloze activities.

9:50-10:30

LO: To solve problems involving the perimeter of a shape on a cm grid

SC1: I can explain how to find the perimeter of a shape

SC2: I can use cm square paper to support my problem solving

SC3: I can find as many possibilities as possible using a strategy

Today we are going to put everything we have learned this week into practise to solve problems.

Diving: can you work out the perimeter of the shape on the lesson presentation. Once you have worked out the perimeter, can you create different shapes with the same perimeter.

Deeper: Work out which shape has the smallest perimeter. Once you have done this, can you work out where the girl on the presentation has made a mistake? Can you calculate the correct answer?

Deepest: Finn has 12 square mosaic tiles. Each side of each square is 1cm long.

His teacher has challenged him to make a shape where each square has at least one edge fully touching the edge of another square. What is the longest perimeter he can make? What is the shortest perimeter he can make? How many did you manage to find?

Complete the activity sheet attached at the bottom of the page. I have also attached a squared paper PDF which may help you with your working out for the problem solving form the lesson presentation.

10:30-11:00

Break time/snack time

11:00 – 11:45

Lo: to write a non-chronological report

SC1: I can publish my final piece making sure I have included the improvements I made

SC2: I can check my work for the features of a non-chronological report

Now that you have written and checked your work, responding to feedback or making corrections you have identified, it is now your opportunity to publish your work to create the best possible final product. If you are able to type up your work on a computer and import pictures, then please do so. Make sure you think carefully about the formatting of your work and that it is laid out using the features of a non-chronological report. You started this yesterday afternoon so this should be a case of completing your work. Send through your final product to your teacher so they can celebrate the amazing piece of work you have created!

11:45- 12:15

TTRockstars

Make sure you do at least one sound check and one studio session. Try to get as many right as you can in the fastest time possible. Remember you want to be aiming for less than 6 seconds to answer a question correctly.

12:15- 1:15

Lunch

1:15- 2:00

Evaluate – what went well and what could be improved?

LO: to evaluate the non-chronological report I have written

SC1: I can consider what I like about my report

SC2: I can consider what improvements I could make to my report

A really important part of our learning journey is looking back at what we have done and thinking about what went well and what could be improved. We need to take what was good and use it in the future and reflect on what we need to develop further to become the best we can be at something. I have attached a copy of my evaluation for you to have a look at.

Evaluating yourself is usually done best in discussion with someone who knows you and knows what you did. Use these question to guide your writing and your evaluation.

What did I achieve?

Did I meet the requirements of the task?

How well did I do it?

What were the successes?

What did other people say was particularly good? Was it the same as what I thought?

What could I have done better?

How could I have done it better?

What do I need to do to help me do it better next time?

2:00- 2:30

Exercise – e.g. mindfulness yoga, fresh air in the garden, run up and down the stairs seeing if you can get faster every time!

2:30-3:00

Mrs Hunt (our music leader) has uploaded music videos to our website (curriculum – music). Every Friday afternoon we would like the children to practise the songs.

Mrs Hunt will be uploading new ones every now and then. If your child would like to record themselves singing, please email clips to Mrs Chloe Hunt at: chunt@four-elms.kent.sch.uk. The clips will then be collated into a video.

3:00 – 3:15

Federation Story Time!!
