Monday 1st February

9- 9:30

Reading

RWI – watch the relevant speed sounds lesson:

Set 3: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kYa3gEhhJ98

Then read the RWI book online https://home.oxfordowl.co.uk/reading/reading-schemes-oxford-levels/read-write-inc-phonics-guide/

Go onto ‘ebooks’ then you will need to register (this is free of charge) and then you will be able to access all the ebooks and choose the correct banded level for your child. Please note that the RWI phonics scheme is based on lots of repetition. Therefore, we usually read the same book about 3 or 4 times before moving onto a new book. For some children they may need to read it more than this to ensure they are completely fluent in reading the book (no sounding out).

A general guide is:

1st read – decoding all the words – sound out as much as you need to.

2nd read – read for fluency (try to read with more fluency and expression).

3rd read – read with fluency, expression and comprehension. Try answering the comprehension questions at the back.

This website also provides lots of other information for parents about phonics. It has other resources on here too should you wish to explore!

Guided reading

Complete the guided reading task at the bottom of the webpage. If the reading is taking you longer than the time allocated, then feel free to share the reading with an adult.

Maths

Year 2

To understand how to divide by using sharing

  1. I know the parts of a division (divisor, dividend, quotient)

  1. I can create groups based on the divisor

  1. I can share the dividend between the groups

  1. I know how to find the answer to the division

1st task – watch my tutorial which introduces the learning objective, tasks and key vocabulary. I will model how to use sharing to divide.

 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4JUgXzWXJRg&feature=youtu.be

2nd task – Use the method of sharing to solve the calculations attached to the webpage called ‘year 2 dividing using sharing’.  You need to solve the problems practically using physical objects from around your house. You need to decide how to create the groups. It might help to draw the groups on paper and put your objects in it like I did:

Optional 3rd task – If you are feeling confident, look at the next tutorial which introduces remainders.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QJVscbbA2DM

Solve the ‘year 2 division challenge questions’.

4th – Look at the success criteria. Did you meet the success criteria? What did you understand? What did you find tricky?

Year 1

Learning objectives:

To know how to multiply through grouping

  1. I can make equal groups

  1. I can find the number of groups

  1. I can write the multiplication

Watch todays tutorial on creating equal groups.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A6NGk6qnlXI

Activity 1:

Today you will be answering the questions on equal grouping.  Circle the pictures in equal groups to find out how many groups there are. Once you have found the number of groups turn this into a multiplication.  Example below.

Answer as many questions as you can within the lesson, don’t worry if you can't answer them all.

Activity 2:

At the end of the lesson think about whether you have met today’s success criteria. You could write at the bottom of your work how you got on and how you think you could make your work even better.

Breaktime – have a healthy snack and a play

11 – 12

English

To know how to write descriptive sentences

  1. I can use adjectives

  1. I can use ‘ly’ adverbs

  1. I can write a sentence which makes sense and is correctly punctuated

Last lesson you collected ideas using your senses and adjectives which describe your setting. This should have been based on a photograph of your choice. Today we are going to work on putting the ideas into sentences like we did last week with our first picture.

1st task - Watch this tutorial which explains your learning objective, how to use adverbs to add extra description (this part is the same as last week!) and what the task is.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K51vWjqpFgI

2nd task – Using the ideas that you collected from Friday’s lesson, put them into sentences using some of the ‘ly’ adverbs that are attached to the webpage. You could even include some of your own adverbs!

3rd task – Evaluate against the success criteria. Did you meet all of the success criteria? What do you think you did really well? Is there anything you could have done to make your work even better?

12- 1pm

Lunchtime and playtime

Mental Arithmetic

Year 1’s if you still need practise counting in 2’s then please continue to work on this instead of moving on to the new target below.

Year 2’s if you still need practise recalling you two times tables then please continue to work on this instead of moving on to the new target below.

Year 1 – you need to now work on counting confidently in 5’s up to 100. You need to be able to do this verbally.

Here are some activities to help you practise:

Song - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sh8YmvJuJ8A

Game – duck shoot (select duck 5 then count on from the numbered duck until you get to the duck showing the same number as the target)  http://www.ictgames.com/mobilePage/duckShoot/index.html

Activities – write the multiples of 5 on pieces of paper and put them around the room/outside. How quickly can you go and point to them in the correct order? You could try starting at any number and seeing if you can continue from that number.

Year 2- you need to work on your 5 times table.

Song - https://www.bbc.co.uk/teach/supermovers/ks1-maths-the-5-times-table/zhbm47h

1:30 – 1:45pm

Spelling/ handwriting

These are your spellings this week. Write them down over and over again in your neatest writing. If you find the spellings hard you can try the easier ones.

You could listen to relaxing music whilst you do this, like we do at school.

1:45 – 2:30

Foundation subject

Art

Learning objectives:

To know the skills for sketching

  1. I can sketch an object

  1. I can choose an object from a setting description

  1. I can use the new skills I have learnt when sketching

Today we will be starting a 3 day mini Art experience, where we will be learning to sketch a scene from a setting description.

Watch today's tutorial to learn about sketching skills and using a setting description to sketch different objects.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=881e9Ifnuo0

Activity 1:

Stop the tutorial at 5 minutes and 5 seconds. Practice the drawing techniques we have spoken about.

I want you to try using your pencil in different ways. Pressing down lightly or hard, what is the difference?

Make sure you practice holding your pencil lightly as using light sketching is easier to rub out and change.

Activity 2:

Continue watching the tutorial. Using the setting description below, this has also been read out in the video.

At the Beach

As the sun rises with a cool breeze, a gentle swish of golden sand blows quickly through the air. In the distance, the fluffy clouds dance across the bright blue sky in the sunny morning air. Proudly a lonely palm tree stands, hovering over the never-ending blue sea. One by one, the coconuts on the palm tree fall painfully with a bash into the golden sand and a splash into the blue sea. Underneath your relaxed feet, you feel the warmth of the golden sand between your toes and the cool water splashing in your face. You smell the salty water drifting all around the place. The silent sea is still and crystal clear. Suddenly, baby dolphins splash through the ocean, a fountain of water coming from them.

Pick one thing from this description and try sketching it. Take your time and use the skills we practiced in the first part of the lesson.

Activity 2 optional extension:

If you have finished sketching your first object and have time to sketch another. Then pick something else from the setting description to sketch.

Activity 3:

At the end of the lesson look back at the success criteria. Did you meet all of the success criteria? What do you think you did really well? Is there anything you could have done to make your work even better?

2:30 – 3:00
