Four Elms Primary School

Monday 4th January 2021

Good morning Class 3. Please find your activities for today listed below. Let me know if you have any problems at all. My email address is:

Have a lovely day!!

TT Rockstars – 2 studio sessions and 2 sound checks before you go onto garage. Don’t forget you can challenge me and I will be challenging you too!

If you are a Lexia pupil, please use this time to complete your Lexia for the day. I will be checking and sending out certificates as you achieve them.

9:30 – 10.30

This week we will be looking at word classes and language choices to create interesting descriptions. To prepare you for this I would like you to revise the word classes that we learned back in September. Use this link to watch the video and complete the activity. Let me know how you get on.

Break time/snack time

Exercise – e.g. mindfulness yoga, fresh air in the garden, run up and down the stairs seeing if you can get faster every time!

Yu need to keep your body active so that your brain can keep active too.

11:00 – 12.00

English reading

Hope fully over the Christmas holidays (and over your time in class 3 so far) you have been reading a range of books. I want you to think about how we can encourage others to read a greater variety of books.

In this lesson, we will develop reading for pleasure through book recommendations. We will focus on nonfiction and picture books. Pupils will then generate their own recommendations to share with others.

12:00- 1:00

1.00 – 1.15

Spellodrome – please complete the assessments on spellodrome. I have used iPad friendly versions which should make it easier to access from home but do let me know if you have any problems.

1:15- 2.15

Maths Launch page

During our home learning, we will be investigating statistics. We will be following the same process with our learning as when we are at school and so I would like you to create a launch page for our 'Investigating Statistics' experience. You need to include a description of the outcome which will be a poster about what data is, how it can be represented and the best representations to used for specific types of data. As with all launch pages, some of this will not make sense until we begin learning it but this will give you a good reference point as we progress. You need to create a list of key vocabulary with their definitions to learn which are:

data, discrete, continuous, key, frequency, scale interval, represent, pictogram, tally, bar chart, time graph

Finally I want you to think about our new character trait for this term which is SELF AWARENESS. You need to think carefully about what you need in order to be successful in your learning. Write done the questions around the bubble in one colour and your answers to them in another. Some questions you may not be able to answer yet.

Send me photos of your pages. :)

2:15 – 2.45

IDL Numeracy

Complete the numeracy assessment. Remember, to keep the activities getting harder, you need to try and make sure you get further than you did last time. Once you have completed the assessment (which you may need to finish tomorrow if you get really far through the levels and run out of time) you will be completing the lessons that are set.

2.45 – 3.15

Story Time – Kensuke’s Kingdom Chapter 1 (next chapter for guided reading tomorrow)
