Term 2 -2020
This term the children began their Anti-Racism Campaign. In reception we focussed on what makes us special our differences and our similarities that brings us together as one community.
We discussed how we are the same based on our physical appearances, interests and our character traits.
We discussed how it doesn't matter that we are different as it makes us unique and we are all the same as we are all one community. We discussed belong to different communities based on where we live, our family cultures and beliefs, our interests through hobbies and clubs we belong to and school.
We represented these communities by creating a model.
Outcome- The children created their own Mr Man/little miss Equality character. The children will then made their own story which will be combined in a class book entitled Mr Men community Tour. Each child's story is about their character visiting their community and discussing how we care for each other in these. It does not matter our differences we all the same. This will be published and shared with other schools, preschools and neighbours of the children’s choice.
We have been learning about shapes. We are planning to make our own Where's Wally style book with hidden shape puzzle pages to create a wet playtime book for the school.
We went on a shape hunt around the school and found lots of 2d and 3d shapes.
