Guided reading - A Place for Plastic

Tutorial Time!

 

 

 

  1. What new dangers could the bag be about to face?
  2. What new problems could the plastic cause here?
  3. Can you think of another word to replace ‘left’ in this sentence?
  4. Can you spot where the bag, the trainer and the pirate are? What are the possible outcomes for the bag now?
  5. What effect do the brighter colours of the shore have, compared to the ocean pictures?
  6. What lessons could we learn as humans from this book?

You need to keep your body active so that your brain can keep active too.

LO: to know and identify a variety of sentence types in our writing

SC1: I can explain what a simple sentence is and how to punctuate it accurately

Activity 1 – everyone to complete. Rewrite the paragraph choosing where to use simple, compound and complex sentences. You must make sure you use all 3 types of sentences in the writing. Only look at my example when you have finished. Mine is not the only option, there are many ways to do it.

Activity 2 (optional challenge) – choose from the 2 levels of challenge. Create compound sentences, identify and label the clauses, put in the correct punctuation and write a guide for another pupil on how to write a compound and complex sentence.

Readiwriter - log on and have a go at one of the spelling patters. Start on the prepare section and then work through the activities in show, explore and practise. See how you get on and look at the feedback button. Don't forget I will be checking regularly to see if anyone needs a certificate.

Examples or story telling to watch for inspiration:

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

This one is long (over an hour, do not watch the whole things.) Skip through to various places as there are lots of children delivering amazing stories that you can watch for ideas.

Activity: Practise reading your finished story using your voice to keep the pace and the tone interesting. Think about those who are listening and how you can keep them engaged throughout your story!

Rehearse, rehearse, rehearse! Keep practising until your story is fluent and fun to listen to as you will be recording it tomorrow!

TT Rockstars – 2 studio sessions and 2 sound checks before you go onto garage. Don’t forget you can challenge me and I will be challenging you too!
