Four Elms Primary School

Four Elms Primary School

Thursday 16th April

Welcome back!

I hope you all had amazing Easters that were filled with; chocolate, fun, lots of sunshine and some good quality time with your family. Hopefully you have all finished your bakes now and completed your evaluations. I have already received some entries into our bake off and I am very impressed with how good you all are! If you haven’t sent me a photo yet, please do this by Sunday so I can announce the winner on Monday.

I hope you enjoy the first day back of online learning, and as you will see we have a new addition to our daily timetable- story time! We are going to be making our way through the short story ‘Fairy Tales’ book to begin with. So go to your favourite reading spot and relax whilst I read you some fantastic stories. We are starting off where we left Sophie’s, Snow White story. I have also attached the pages just in case anybody wants to read along.

As always any questions feel free to email me at awoolliscroft@four-elms.kent.sch.uk

PE

I hope you have all been keeping active during Easter, if not time to start the day with exercise again. Running, dancing, Jo Wicks, do whatever makes you feel good!

Maths

We are now moving on to decimals and percentages in maths. For some areas it will be revision as we have previously covered it this year, but for others it will be brand new. Today we are starting with a simple recap of 3 decimal places. Please watch my video first and then attempt the questions attached below.

I have included an image of how I expect this work to be set out in your work books.

Answers will be uploaded tomorrow.

Story writing

We are running out of time to finish our stories for our comic books, so I would like you to have a big writing day today.

  • 1st Reread what you have done so far, make sure it makes sense and follows your original story plan.
  • 2nd If you need to, draw yourself a quick story map of what you need to include today. We need to get as close to the end of our story as possible.
  • 3rd Do something to help you relax; open the window and listen to the birds, put on some relaxing music, whatever helps you concentrate.
  • 4th I would like you to spend as long as you can continuously and independently writing. (This is not a time to forget all those fantastic skills we have worked on, show off what you can do!)

Art

We have a long art lesson today. For the first part I would like you to follow my tutorial of how to draw comic book style writing. You may need to pause, rewind and re-watch stages so take your time over it. It’s a 15 minuet tutorial but should take you a lot longer.

Part two is to now make your words pop! Fill your page with colour and make the three words look like they are from a comic. Remember everything you now know about colour theory and complimentary colours.

Story time

The story is in two parts as I tried to film it on the go pro. It only has limited storage so I will not do that in future, but for today you will have to watch it in two parts (sorry for my husband’s phone ringing half way through) I have also attached the pages as pdf’s just in case you want to read along.
