Well done for all of your hard work yesterday- I LOVE getting the emails with all of your amazing work. 

Well done to all of you who completed the TT rockstars challenge. As predicted you all beat me so I have added a raffle ticket for you all on my log. I am going to have to practise at the weekend to be in with a chance of beating you.

15 minutes of TT rockstars then

Select the maths skill you wish for example addition, subtraction, multiplication or division, select your year group and then play.



 L.0- To understand how to find percentages of amounts

Success Criteria:

  1. I can divide by 10 to calculate 10%
  2. I can multiply to find a percentage that is a multiple of 10
  3. I can divide by 100 to calculate 1%


Complete the table below before the lesson starts to recap your learning from yesterday. Once you have completed this I will go through the answers on the video before we start our new learning. 

Work through the video at your own pace, pausing and re-listening at each point you need to. I will make it clear which part of the tutorial links with each colour challenge. You can either stop at each point and tackle the challenge then or watch the whole video and then choose your challenge.

  1. Read ‘The Giant’s Necklace’ by Michael Morpurgo pages 10 from ‘She was cut off’ to top of page 14 to ‘Cherry determined not to look down but to concentrate on the climb.’ Please don’t read any further.

Guided Reading Questions:

  1. Can you explain why the author has used ‘writhing grey monster breathing its fury on the rocks with every pounding wave’ and also ‘…but she struggled on…?’ (Page 10) What affect do these have on the reader?
  2. Even when in a dangerous situation, Cherry took great care of her shells. Do you agree or disagree with this statement? Explain your answer with evidence from the text (pages 10 and 11)
  3. If you had been in Cherry’s situation, what would you have done? Explain your reasoning.
  4. Find examples of how Michael Morpurgo builds tension on pages 10-13. Remind yourself of building tension from yesterday’s video.

Please look at the chart attached and draw it onto a piece of paper.
Write down three negative thoughts you may have had and go through the columns in order to help you balance out that negative thought.
If you can't think of any examples use your imagine and get creative!

Please keep your work in a notebook because it will be stuck into your wellbeing books once you return.
