L.O- To understand how to calculate missing angles in a straight line

Success Criteria:

  1.  I can explain that there are 180° in a straight line
  2. I can calculate a missing angle by subtracting the total degrees of given angles away from 180°

Today you are going use your persuasive writing skills to explain why tourists should not visit Antarctica.

  1. Read/listen to the text ‘Antarctica Tourism-Human Impact Threats to the Environment’

 

 

 

 

Answer the following questions on the text: (Reading focus: summarising)

a) What are the two main concerns of large ships visiting Antarctica?

b) Summarise the third paragraph in your own words.

c) In what ways can the wildlife on Antarctica be affected by tourism? Use evidence from the text to support your arguments.

d) Tourists should still visit Antarctica. Do you agree with this statement? Explain your answer using evidence from the text
