Four Elms Primary School

Tuesday 24th March 2020

Please make sure that if you finish these activities and have spare time that you do extra TTRockstars, IDL numeracy, Spellodrome or Lexia. These online learning supports will help you continue to improve your recall and knowledge.

ENGLISH - we have not started writing the diary entry for the Roman soldier yet. We are in the knowledge phase of our learning where we acquire the information we need (including grammar and styles of writing) to help us write the best version possible. Last we looked at first person narrative to understand which pronouns to use. This week we are working on fronted adverbials, past tense and planning our diary. We will be writing it up on Monday and Tuesday next week. The research the children are doign in the afternoon will also suppor this.

Hope this helps :)

Time

Learning

9-9:30

Joe Wicks virtual PE – bodycoachtv on youtube.com

9:30 – 9:50

Spellodrome. Complete the assessment that has been set based around the year 3 and 4 spelling words.

9:50-10:30

English-  Fronted adverbials

Using what you know about fronted adverbials and the support sheet from yesterday, highlight the fronted adverbials in the diary entry by Daniel. Remember, fronted adverbials do not have to be at the beginning of a sentence but they can be in the middle or at the end to keep the writing interesting!

Once you have finished you can mark your work using the answer sheet. Remember, if you have made a mistake, see if you can work out why you made that mistake to learn from it for next time. If you missed a fronted adverbial, be sure to add it in!

10:30-11:00

Breaktime/snacktime

11:00 – 11:30

TTRockstars

Make sure you complete at least 2 studio session and 2 sound checks before going onto garage. This will help you get quicker each time. I look forward to more challenges, you are getting so good at these now!

11:00- 12:00

Maths- Telling the time

Go on to MyMaths and complete the time lesson set. Unlike when you do your homework which is to go over what we have learned in class, you will need to do the lesson before you do the homework task. This will help you understand how to answer the questions when you complete the home-learning task.

12- 1:15

Lunch

1:15- 2:00

Experience – The Roman Army

We know so much about the army from artefacts such as weapons and helmets and depictions of Roman battles. Read the information about Gaius Marius. https://www.savvyleo.com/world-history/ancient-rome/gaius-marius/

Can you create a fact file about Gaius Marius? What changes did he make and what impact did these have? Can you list all the changes he made and how this improved the Roman Army and helped it be successful?

Challenge – can you find the similarities and differences between the army in roman times and the army now? Are there any things that we still use now?

2:00- 2:30

Exercise – e.g. mindfulness yoga skipping, bouncy ball catch, fresh air in the garden

2:30-3:15

Roman Army continued…. (as above)

Finish off what you have not managed to complete yet. Try to add pictures with your writing as we know from our learning journals that pictures help us to remember facts.
