WB 18.01.2021
I have been asked to give an over-view of the learning so that you know what the outcome will be and where the lessons are heading so that you can see how the progression is heading towards a specific goal.
Maths/Art outcome: by the end of this unit of work (approx 3 weeks) the children will create a piece of art work using patterns and 2D ro 3D shapes which will be inspired by a famous artist. e.g.
In Maths they will: identify right angles, recognise that two right angles make a half-turn, three make three quarters of a turn and four a complete turn; identify whether angles are greater than or less than a right angle and identify acute and obtuse angles and compare and order angles up to two right angles by size. They will identify horizontal and vertical lines and pairs of perpendicular and parallel lines. They will also draw 2-D shapes and make 3-D shapes using modelling materials; recognise 3-D shapes in different orientations describing them and compare and classify geometric shapes, including quadrilaterals and triangles, based on their properties and sizes. They will be able to identify lines of symmetry in 2-D shapes presented in different orientations and create patterns using shapes.
In art they will: learn how to improve their mastery of art and design techniques, including drawing and painting. They will learn about great artists, architects and designers in history.
In English - by the end of this unit of work the children will be writing stories to similar to that which they have read. They will rehearse reading them aloud and then record them to be used as our end of the day story. The learning objectives will cover understanding how to create interesting characters, linking character/setting/plot through planning and to punctuate and use dialogue appropriately.
