WC 22nd February
Welcome to a new term! This term there will be a few changes to the home learning.
We will provide you with a brief weekly overview so that you know what you are going to be doing this week.
We have labelled parts of the timetable with ‘must’, ‘should’ or ‘could’ so that you know what to prioritise.
The Maths and English lessons will have an extra tutorial which is set at a slower pace and will support you through the questions (like a focus group). Watch this extra tutorial if you need extra support or need to work more independently.
Every week there will be a new set of challenges which you can complete in the afternoons. It is up to you to decide how many challenges you complete. For more information see: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1inwPxzao_g
There are extra resources to support learning on the tab ‘resources to support home learning’ on our class page.
Our zoom meetings will be slightly different. On Monday year 1 can show and tell. On Tuesday and Thursday we will play games. On Wednesday year 2 can show and tell. On a Friday we will have a quiz and celebrate work. During each call there will be opportunity for the children to ask questions about the learning.
You only need to send us one piece of work a day – hopefully this will save you lots of time.
Here is the summary of the learning for the week:
Reading - For those doing Read, Write, Inc phonics you will continue watching the speed sound sessions and reading the e-books on the Ruth Miskin website. For those on guided reading, you will begin reading and answering questions on ‘The Worst Witch’ by Jill Murphy.
English - In English this week we will be continuing to look at poetry. At the beginning of the week, we will be discovering what repetition is and how this may be used in a poem, before we then apply the knowledge we have learnt on poetry so far to identify the key features of a poem and help us work towards our outcome.
Year 1 - This week we will be continuing to learn about methods for multiplication, focusing on arrays. We will start the week by discovering what an array is using objects, by the end of the week we will be using our knowledge of arrays to solve problems. This will be our last week of learning methods to solve multiplications before we move on to applying our knowledge.
Year 2 – We will be moving on to learning about fractions of a shape. We will start the week by finding out what a fraction is before finding fractions of shapes by folding. By the end of the week we will be focus on identifying fractions of shapes like this:
