Joe Wicks virtual PE – bodycoachtv on

9:30 – 9:50

Guided Reading

If you complete Lexia learning, please do this instead of guided reading.

LO: To develop skills of retrieval

SC1: I can skim and scan a text for information

SC2: I can retrieve information from a text

SC3: I can answer questions in full sentences

Please rewatch yesterday’s tutorial if you want to revisit the text, or print off the pages to read at home, which are attached to the bottom of the page. Here are the questions for you to find out the answers to. Answers are found in the text!

  1. What do you find beneath a volcano?

  2. Which 3 materials make up an eruption?

  3. Name the three different types of volcano that can form.

  4. What happens when tectonic plates move apart?

  5. What is a ‘Batholith’?

LO: To write a speech

SC1: I can use my plan to write a speech

SC2: I can punctuate sentences correctly

SC3: I can rehearse my speech out loud.

Here is today’s tutorial. I have attached my example speech as well for you to refer to- not to copy! Keep your speech fairly short- three succinct paragraphs and a summary conclusion at the end. When you have finished writing, read it out loud to yourself a few times- think about where to pause, and how to change the tone of your voice. Try timing yourself to make sure your speech isn’t too long. If it is, can you edit it in some way?

Break time/snack time

11:00 – 11:30

Make sure you complete 2 studio sessions and 2 sound checks before going on the garage. Feel free to challenge me!

11:30 – 12:15

Arithmetic starter

Please find the link to the ‘Topmarks’ site, where i would like you to have a go at the ‘Daily 10’ challenge. Choose ‘multiplication’; and the ‘7 times table’. Which level can you complete? Let me know!

LO: To introduce the concept of a line graph

SC1: I can use data to plot points on a line graph

SC2: I can label axes and interpret data

SC3: I can solve statistics problems

Here is today’s tutorial

And here is an additional video introducing the concept of line graphs.

I have also attached the ‘Diving into mastery’ powerpoint for you to watch, and the questions for you to answer. There are three levels of challenge which get progressively harder with each stage… remember to look at the submarine in the corner as this will tell you how hard the questions are. If the submarine is at the ocean floor- you’re mastering the concept! Answers are attached for you to mark your own learning.

12:15- 1:15

1:15 - 2:00

LO: To understand how to ‘Zendoodle’

SC1: I can use different patterning techniques

SC2: I can create a piece of art for a purpose

SC3: I can select the appropriate media to use

This afternoon, you are going to try some zendoodling! This is where you use patterns, lines and small circles of different colours- although sometimes people do this in black pen on a white background- I have attached below two examples:

This zendoodle is a rainbow, and I would like you to create your own ‘zendoodled’ rainbow to celebrate the wonderful work of the NHS! You may have made a rainbow already, but this time really think about those fine, detailed patterns! Don’t forget to put your rainbow up somewhere and take a photo.

2:00- 2:30

Exercise – e.g. mindfulness yoga, fresh air in the garden, run up and down the stairs seeing if you can get faster every time! Try some ‘Cosmic yoga’ from youtube!
