Slight change for ENGLISH - we have not started writing the diary entry for the Roman soldier yet. We are in the knowledge phase of our learning where we acquire the information we need (including grammar and styles of writing) to help us write the best version possible. Last we looked at first person narrative to understand which pronouns to use. This week we are working on fronted adverbials, past tense and planning our diary. We will be writing it up on FRIDAY so that we are ready to start out new challenge next week. The research the children are doing in the afternoon will also support this.

Complete 20 minutes of Spellodrome practise. I have updated the spelling lists.


English-  Past tense

Diary entries must be written in the past tense because they are discussing what has already happened (usually during that day). It is really important that when we write in a tense, that we stay in that tense otherwise it can get really confusing for the reader!

Have a look at the extract and see if you can correct where the wrong tense has been used to make sure it is all in the past tense. Write it out into your book. There is a correct version for you to mark your work with too. Make sure you don’t peek until you are finished!

Make sure you complete at least 2 studio session and 2 sound checks before going onto garage. This will help you get quicker each time. I look forward to more challenges; you are getting so good at these now!

11:00- 12:00

Maths- Telling the time

Go on to MyMaths and complete the time lesson set. Unlike when you do your homework which is to go over what we have learned in class, you will need to do the lesson before you do the homework task. This will help you understand how to answer the questions when you complete the home-learning task.

Experience – The Roman Army

We know the Roman Empire expanded to conquer many countries. How did they manage this? Watch the video

Pause the video as you need to and create a list, spider diagram, mind map of the facts that you can find. You may wish to section this into:

The Roman Empire, The Roman Republic, The Roman Legionary, training, building a camp etc.

Exercise – e.g. mindfulness yoga skipping, bouncy ball catch, fresh air in the garden

Would you like to be in the Roman army? What are the advantages and disadvantages? You will be using this to start writing your diary entry as a Roman soldier tomorrow.
