L.O- To understand how to convert between units of time (days and weeks)

Success criteria

1. I can convert between days to weeks and days

2. I can read and interpret a calendar

3. I can solve problems counting from one date to another, converting between weeks and days

 

To start I have set you a my maths activity- Time conversions 1. Can you please do this before you start the main challenges below.

There is no tutorial today as you will be working on your conversion skills for weeks to days. You will need to use the calendar resource sheet which is available to download at the bottom of the page to help you with today’s activity.

Green- Recap converting between days and weeks and then begin to work out how many days and weeks between 2 dates

Orange- Recap converting between days and weeks and then begin to solve problems using the calendar

Red- Order days and weeks and days by converting and then solve problems using the calendar

1. I can consider the audience and purpose of my guide

2. I can use organisational techniques in my guide

3. I can use formal language

 

In this session you are going to create a plan for your adaptation and evolution guide which you will complete this afternoon.

 

 

 

When doing this task remember to:

· Think about what it is important for your audience to know.

· Look at the example on the website to help you

· Use headings, sub-headings, rhetorical questions

· Use diagrams to illustrate your points

  1. I can explain adaptation in detail giving specific examples
  2. I can report on theories of evolution
  3. I can use scientific vocabulary

Task: To create an informative guide on adaptation and evolution for a Year 5/6 audience

When doing this task remember to:

  • Think about what it is important for your audience to know.
  • Use your plan from earlier to help you structure your guide
  • Use headings, sub-headings, rhetorical questions
  • Use diagrams and pictures to illustrate your points
  • Consider your layout and presentation. You can also create this on the computer too if you would like. ( see example picture below)

 

You have the whole afternoon to complete this task so aim high to make sure it is the best it can be. (Article 6)

 

If you don’t get chance to finish this. Please don’t worry use some of your project time over the next 2 days to do so.
